The return of Donald Trump as the President of the United States have caused many chaos in both politic and economic stages. The high tariff policy have increased the rate of economic devastation in many parts of the capitalist-imperialist world.[1] In addition, the national defense policy of US imperialism is no longer in the position it once was; safeguarding world security, but rather increasing military strength for national defense.[2] Thus, it potentially creates tension (war) with countries that oppose its policies. On June 21, 2025, the US launched a large-scale air strike against Iranian nuclear sites,[3] citing Iran's involvement in the Israel-Palestine war as the pretext. US imperialism issued a warning to Iran not to interfere with its interests in the Israel-Palestine war. Subsequently, Nigeria, a country rich in oil and gas, was also targeted by US imperialism in an attack on December 25, 2025.[4] This was carried out to seize control of oil and gas supplies from the occupation efforts of Islamist extremist group movements.
Latest, at 2 a.m. on January 3, 2026, US imperialism launched a large-scale air strike on Caracas, Venezuela.[5] There are reports of major explosions in the capital of the oil-rich country. Military attacks also occurred in El Higuerote, Miranda, La Guaira, and in Aragua. Trump announced that US Army Delta Force captured Maduro along with his wife, Celia Flores and they have been flown outside of Venezuela to the United States.[6]
The US imperialist attack on Venezuela is the result of a policy carried out quietly, meticulously, and with great cynicism. An action that expresses the true interests of the crude and aggressive US imperialism. The attack is the culmination of various actions previously carried out provocatively by Trump. For example, the overt seizure and hijacking of oil tankers in international waters off Venezuela,[7] the brutal bombing and shooting of small ships in the Caribbean, in the form of deliberate massacres of the unfortunate people inside.[8] The victims are almost certainly innocent fishermen, but in any case, these actions are undoubtedly blatant violations of international law.
US imperialism had enacted a military suppression operation to Venezuela in these past months as a pre-requisite to the coup against the president of Venezuela.[9] On November 11, 2025, Trump ordered at least eight US Navy warships to the Caribbean, including an aircraft carrier, a nuclear submarine, F-35 fighter jets based in Puerto Rico, and nearly 10,000 troops.[10] There has been a series of attacks on Venezuelan ships in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, without strong evidence of the involvement of the president of Venezuela.
The action taken by Trump against Venezuela is not solely due to drug trafficking. It is a military aggression aimed at making it clear to all of us that US imperialism intends to dominate the world through ruthless conquest and will punish any government that obstructs their plan to control the world. Now Trump plans to take over Venezuela and control its oil industry.[11] Previously, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro consistently opposed the policies and sanctions imposed by Donald Trump, particularly those targeting Venezuela's oil industry.
Venezuela is one of the countries with the world's largest oil reserves. This is what US imperialism is after. Because Venezuela's oil reserves can help facilitate US imperialism in dominating the global market, strengthening their economy and national defense. When Venezuela is under the control of US imperialism, the Venezuelan people will live in misery and poverty. As we know, the imperialist system does not create social welfare and equality, but rather vast inequality. This will also weaken the struggle of the working class in Venezuela to achieve scientific socialism.
Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López has announced civilian casualties and called for national resistance in the face of US imperialist aggression. He stated that the entire armed forces will be mobilized.[12] The response of the masses of working people is the decisive factor in this war, building international solidarity to halt the military aggression against the people of Venezuela, and strengthening political power to prevent its takeover by a regime aligned with US imperialism. The majority of Venezuelan society—workers, peasants, the urban poor, and all those who have benefited from the Bolivarian Revolution—would undoubtedly be prepared to resist this extremely brutal imperialist aggression, if given serious and centralized direction. However, that alone is insufficient to withstand the assault of US imperialism, which possesses the world's largest military force. Therefore, support from the working class worldwide is crucial for the people of Venezuela; reliance on support from Cuba, Russia, and China alone is not enough.
To achieve international working-class unity, we, from the Student Struggle Center for National Liberation (PEMBEBASAN):
- We condemn the actions of US imperialism in carrying out military attacks against Venezuela.
- We stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela in their fight against US imperialism.
- We provide full, unconditional support to the people of Venezuela in their struggle against the US.
We call upon all oppressed people and the working class around the world to mobilize immediately and reject US imperialist military aggression against Venezuela. Organize protest actions at all US Embassies. We will deploy all our strength to stand firmly and unconditionally in defense of the Venezuelan people. We will surely triumph!
Solidarity with the People of Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution!
Down with US Imperialism!
